Paul V. Targonski, MD

Dr Paul Targonski has over 30 years of experience in clinical medicine, academic research, practice administration, education, and national health policy. He received his master’s degree in public health and epidemiology, PhD in epidemiology, and his MD, at the University of Illinois, Chicago. He undertook his internship and residency in internal medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

In addition to work at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Institutes of Health, Dr. Targonski completed post-doctoral training at the University of Oxford, England and returned to the Mayo Clinic Department of Internal Medicine as a clinician-scientist. In Virginia, Dr. Targonski was on faculty in the Departments of Public Health Sciences and Medicine of the University of Virginia.
